Description

The Russo-Japanese War was a dirty war between imperialist powers fought on Chinese territory between Japan and Russia from February 1904 to September 1905 for control of the Korean Peninsula and Northeast China. 900,000 soldiers from both sides participated in the war, with 400,000 casualties, and Japan won in the end. The battle for Port Arthur was the longest and most casualty-bearing battle in the Russo-Japanese War, which determined the control of the sea and affected the overall situation. Japan's victory accelerated the pace of imperialist expansion. Russia was defeated, and the domestic economic collapse led to revolution.

The state has listed Lushun Taiyanggou as the first batch of key cultural relics protection and utilization demonstration areas, and Dalian has decided to build a national memory park of war and peace in Taiyanggou. In order to remember the humiliating history of the Russo-Japanese War and fully and truly display the cultural relics and historical materials of the Russo-Japanese War, the "Russo-Japanese War Historical Materials Collection Hall" was officially established on April 1, 2023. The collection hall is located in the center of Taiyanggou, Lushunkou District, Dalian City. You can search on Baidu Map: Lushun Russo-Japanese War Historical Materials Collection Hall (No. 101, Baishan Street). There are many tourist attractions around the collection hall, such as Victory Tower, Children's Park, Cherry Blossom Avenue, etc. It is a cluster scenic Attraction.

The collection hall has three floors and more than 1,000 historical relics, which are divided into three parts: Tsarist Russia, Japan and the late Qing Dynasty to show the history of the Russo-Japanese War. The tour route goes from the first floor to the third floor. The first floor is the Russian Army Relics Exhibition Area, which displays the equipment of the Tsarist Russian Army and Navy, Tsarist Russian court gold and silver utensils, etc. The Lushunkou sand table displays the location of the fortress and artillery during the Russo-Japanese War. The second floor is the Japanese Army Relics Exhibition Area, which contains a large number of Japanese Army and Navy relics, maps, correspondence letters and books. The third floor is the Qing Army Exhibition Area, which covers the equipment of the Beiyang Navy and Lushun Dockyard supplies since the Sino-Japanese War.

The collections in the museum, together with the existing forts and fortresses from the Russo-Japanese War period in Lushunkou, have become valuable historical and cultural heritage. The collection hall uses a large amount of historical and cultural materials and physical displays to reveal the evidence of the imperialist powers' invasion of China and inspire people's patriotism and desire to serve the country.
